Hospice Marlborough is proud to announce that, thanks to the incredible support of our local community, we received $1,594 through Z Energy’s Good in the Hood campaign at Z Redwood.
This generous donation will go directly toward supporting the compassionate palliative care services Hospice Marlborough provides, without charge, to those facing a life-limiting illness in our community.
Z Energy’s Good in the Hood campaign is an annual initiative where local charities apply for a share of the $1 million Z Energy gives back to communities across New Zealand. This year, 12 Marlborough charities benefitted from a combined $16,000, distributed across four local Z stations. Customers at each Z station are given tokens to vote for their preferred charity, and each station’s $4,000 fund is divided based on the community’s votes.
On Tuesday, October 22, Hospice Marlborough’s Events & Engagement Lead, Leigh Somerville joined other local charity representatives for a wonderful morning tea hosted by Z Springlands, Z station managers and Z Energy Representative, where donation certificates were presented.
Reflecting on the success of the campaign, Jamie Hobby, Owner Operator of multiple Z stations across the Top of the South, shared:
“All the votes for Z Good in the Hood connect together for us because many of the people in recipient organisations are regular customers too – supporting them means they can continue to support Marlborough. We like to do business that makes local impacts, and today is the fun part of the project where we personally acknowledge our donations. It’s easy to write cheques, but we pride ourselves on continuing to support these worthwhile groups year-round.”
Hospice Marlborough extends its heartfelt thanks to Z Energy for continuing to run this impactful campaign each year, and to the Marlborough Z retailers for selecting such deserving local charities. The ongoing generosity of our community is essential to helping organisations like ours continue to serve those in need.
Special thanks to the Marlborough Weekly and William Woodworth for their wonderful coverage of the campaign choosing to cover Z Good in the Hood as front page in their Wednesday 23 October 2024 issue (and where Jamie’s above quote was first published).
Hospice Marlborough also extends congratulations to all the other participating charities.
