We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced administrator to provide efficient accounting services and reception duties as part of the Hospice Marlborough business support team.

About Hospice Marlborough / Te Whare Kumanu o Wairau

As a team we provide hospice and high-quality, specialist palliative care services either in our inpatient unit or in the community, to the people of Marlborough.

About the Opportunity

Permanent Full-time
Based in Blenheim, this front-facing role involves working as part of a small administration team that supports the business operations of Hospice Marlborough.

We want you to bring all your experience, skills, and personality to provide welcoming reception services, to all enquirers, visitors, trades personnel and stakeholders whilst also performing critical accounting tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide timely front line accounting tasks.
  • Provide high quality and sensitive reception services.
  • Provide efficient, flexible and responsive administrative support to Hospice Marlborough staff supporting the functions of hospice.
  • Maintain an active role in contributing to continual quality improvement initiatives and efficiencies.

About You

The right person will have:

  • Excellent time and desk management skills, able to prioritise multiple tasks, keep track of work in progress and meet deadlines.
  • Be adaptable and calm with a professional attitude.
  • Ability to relate and communicate effectively with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to be discreet and diplomatic when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Skills to work effectively in a team environment, contributing to building the positive sense of team and the wider hospice-based culture.
  • Able to provide evidence of:
    • permanent rights to work in New Zealand, with no restrictions.
    • a current, clean full NZ driver’s licence
    • an administration qualification Level 3 + or demonstratable equivalent experience.

We’re always interested in hearing from people who would like to volunteer with us. If you are interested in learning about becoming a volunteer at Hospice Marlborough, a role that’s both meaningful and enriching, we’d love to hear from you.

We welcome volunteers in various key service areas, including Clinical Services, Community Care, Events & Fundraising, our Hospice Shops, Administration & Reception and Ancillary Services (i.e., flower arrangement, catering, massage, art, photography, and more).

We’re looking for passionate volunteers to join our team at the Hospice Shops Picton.

Whether you have skills in pricing, packing, merchandising, or love helping customers, we’d love to hear from you! If you can spare a few hours between Monday and Sunday, 10am – 4pm, and want to support Hospice Marlborough’s mission, come and be part of our vibrant community.

Every contribution helps make a difference!

Time commitment:

  • Flexible

A Ministry of Justice background check will be required.

We’re seeking a dedicated volunteer to help keep our hospice vehicles in top condition.

This role involves vacuuming and dusting the interior of our vehicles, approximately 1.5 hours every Wednesday. If you’re detail-oriented and looking to make a meaningful impact, we’d love your support in helping us maintain a clean and welcoming environment for our community care team.

Time commitment:

  • Every Wednesday (1.5hrs)

A Ministry of Justice background check will be required.

This volunteer role provides a therapeutic service by working with patients and whānau through our referral, to gather information from interviews and research in order to accurately describe important life events through story telling.

Requirements:

  • Gathering information from interviews & research to accurately describe important life events.
  • Ability to compose a compelling & accurate account of an individual’s life.
  • Comfortable being in situations where you can relate to a wide range of people who may be experiencing significant personal loss and grief.
  • Any information heard, observed, or obtained during visits remain confidential and stored securely.
  • Friendly and approachable.
  • Specialist training will be provided for this role and ongoing support.

Time commitment:

  • Flexible

A Ministry of Justice background check will be required.
